Thanks for the info! We’re visiting St. Moritz (via train from Bormio IT) in January. Debating whether to rent a car in St. Moritz to drive to Lake Coma then then onto Milan to fly home to US or take a train from St. Moritz to Milan and then rent a car to visit Lake Como. It looks like an easy straight shot via car but did not consider that the passes could be closed. Is that the case with this route? Any advise or tips on how we can figure this out before we leave? If the car drive is going to be 4 hours I might want to avoid the rental hassle and take the train or bus. Thanks!

If you train Munich to Prague for example, buy your ticket on the Czech railway website not the German DB site. Why? The German site will charge you more even though it is a Czech train. We also went from Basel in Switzerland to Colmar, France. Charming town. The ticket was a little cheaper on the French website SNF than the SBB website of Switzerland. A French train as well. Internet service on the German railways is pretty good at times and the Czech train was good at times! Austrain rail internet was very good! Swiss rail internet sucked! Period! They can do better! Why? Switzerland is rich and you see it as you cross borders. The Zurich airport has a 4 hour free internet limit. Lame! They can open it up! Switzerland is rich! Why? Dubai is rich! Why? Because when I fill up my gas tank in the USA my money goes to Dubai. Switzerland has our money. Swiss banks! The rich of the world legal and illegal have their money hidden in Swiss banks! Few questions asked about those funds?🤔😂 So, Switzerland has money to loan for Swiss rail and other projects. Am I wrong? So I think 😅 Cheers!

We were in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland and France and we never used Swiss Francs. We did get some Euros and Czech crowns but generally did not need cash but here in the USA I use little cash😮. Bitcoin? As we left Zurich airport bag claim there were ads for Bitcoin!🤔😡🤣🙏? Surprised me. The bathroom having to pay sucks! Especially in Switzerland. Richest country in the world. Stupid! Tip! Use your train bathroom just before you get to your destination. Credit cards? One of mine would work some places other places not at all. Had to use another. The KFC at Bern train station would not accept any of my 4 credit cards. 😮 Odd? We went elsewhere. Tip? Buy food at Lidl and avoid sit down restaurants. Switzerland is 25 to 35 per cent higher than the US I felt. From my travels I would live in Austria if I had too😊

We took the train to Basel only to catch a train to Colmar, France. Colmar is a wonderful little town about an hour or hour and a half from Basel. The change in culture from Switzerland to France was very interesting. 😊

Get this, we went through a 7 mile long tunnel in Austria and a 7 mile tunnel in Switzerland. There is also a 35 mile long tunnel in Switzerland into Italy. Like the chunnel amazing. We did not travel on the French TVG in Colmar France but saw the train. One man said Paris is a 5 hour drive from Colmar. That TVG or TGV he said was just 2 hours to Paris!!😮😊😊

I bought 1 adult pass and one youth pass for 8 days US $823. We went Zurich Bern. Bern Geneva. Bern Lucerne. Bern Grindewald. Grindewald Lauterbrunnen. Bern Basel. Grindewald Zermatt. Then returned back to Bern each day and finally back to Zurich airport(shopping center!😊) We took a free boat ride on Laje Geneva and one on Lake Lucerne. We took one 50 per cent off Mannlequin cable car. ( That top of the world Jungofraut is gag me $270 CHF 😮) so it would have been $270 Francs for 2. Too expensive. Mannlequin was good enough at $68 for 2.😊 Our hotel was outside Bern at the Zollikofen train station so we did that twice many days.Bern Zollikofen. We also went into 2 musuems no additional charge. So? Would the 50 per cent off pass been better? Maybe but then you have to spend time buying tickets on the internet. This pass was easier. The conductors just scanned a bar code that we screened shot onto our phones from the emessage receipt. Make sure you have a ticket. It is a honor system but conductirs are asking for tickets! 100 Franc fine if no ticket I hear? European rail is amazing especially Swiss rail.😊 Cheers!

Thank you so very much for all the tips. Your apps were super helpful--wish I would have had more time to get better at using them. The water is AMAZING! Not only am I obsessed with having drinking water on hand, I can also be a water snob because I want fresh good tasting water. I love love love being able to fill up my water bottle straight from the fountains! Wanted to let you know that we were only charged to use one water closet. We were charged for tap water in the restaurants--probably a bigger money maker. We paid anywhere from 3-6 chf per bottle of tap water. We even had a silverware charge at one place! Anyway, thank you so much! Watching your videos and taking notes made our travel to Switzerland go smoothly. (On a side note, I watched so many videos prior to the trip that my husband had a small freak out and told me I needed to "stop, he couldn't listen to one more..."--however, he really appreciated the information I had on hand about what to do, eat and buy. So I have zero regrets, haha)

Thank you so much for doing these videos!! So helpful. We had a wonderful trip to Switzerland a few weeks ago and kept your tips in mind. Ok, to be honest, I made lists on my phone that I could refer to. We had such a wonderful time. The Trummelbach Falls was very much worth seeing. We had the most amazing weather for May. We did not make it up to Grindlewald First due to great weather, a holiday, and tons of people with the same idea on that Saturday. However, we saw a gondola in the distane and decided to see where it went. We had a wonderful visit to Pfingstedd, having lunch on the balcony at the restaurant and did my first zip line. Unfortunately the mountain coaster did not open until the following day. After that, we headed for another gondola on the other side of the valley and went up to the Eiger Glacier. We had our own gondola and the views were amazing. We also took cruises on both lakes, being able to take the steamboat on Lake Brienz. We really saw a lot of the area and much of that was thanks to your videos. Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing your insights into the different cultural things. Again, like your other videos it was priceless. We were prepared for no shoes in Airbnbs, as well as being quieter on the trains, etc. I did not realize how loud we were until we had to quiet down a bit. Super helpful. Regarding the trains, we were in line to board and were standing to the outside behind a lovely Swiss woman and suddenly before everyone could even get off the train a tour group just started getting on the train. The woman said something to a woman trying to squeeze on, not sure if there was understanding with different languages. But as soon as the Swiss woman could, she stepped in front of the group, blocking them so others could get on. I took her place so she would not be overrun and she could get aboard and I will say she turned to the group and gave them a scathing look. It was definitely deserved. But really brought home the fact that there is a proper way to do things. I love that you and your husband do this blog and have the different insights. Thank you, it was so helpful.

Thank you so very much for your videos and tips. We recently took a trip to Switzerland and the knowledge you shared was priceless. I took the lists of must do and gifts to take home, as well as foods to try. Wow! We did our best to try as much of the foods as possible. My husband is a huge fan of Rosti with ham and cheese on top. We asked to substitute Rosti for fries when we could as well. Yum. The cheeses, fondue, chocolate--all of it was delicious. And don't even get me started on the macaroni! Also, the Coop and Megro brands of Swiss chocolate was delicious and we saved some money and still brought home some great gifts. Thank you!

About the not smiling and talking thing, if you are in the countryside it would be rude to not greet. But you con't do this in a city. Or evev in a bigger town. I would say when there are more than 1 person per minute coming along most will stop greeting. The same for chitchat, in small stores this it is normal to talk tomother people, it happens especially often when you have a child with you😂

We don't need to be controlled as every swiss person has a little policeman in them 😂
